This is not an easy review to write. The office staff have been excellent, they communicate effectively in a timely fashion and are very knowledgeable despite not being trained technicians.My concern lies with the service Acorn provided.My furnace stopped working and I called Acorn on Friday, I explained the situation and also said that I had an alternate source of heat in the house so it wasn’t an urgent issue.I was called on Tuesday with the news that a technician was available and he correctly diagnosed a faulty gas valve. The valve was replaced and I was billed $149 for the call out (which I knew about) and $508 for the valve (which seems a little steep).From that day on we noticed a smell that we thought was gas but did not smell like rotten eggs as BC Hydro describe so we were confused what it might be.My wife eventually convinced me to call Acorn and to their credit a technician was dispatched that day.He confirmed that the smell was indeed gas and there were two leaks, one from a loose out pressure tap on the valve and one due to the flare nut being cross threaded when the valve was installed.He fixed both leaks under warranty.I called Acorn to express my concern about the cross threaded flare nut as a potential source of future leaks. The office staff said they were pretty sure it would be fine but that I should check for leaks on a regular basis. I was not satisfied with this answer. The office said that the Service Manager would call me to discuss my concerns. That was one week ago. No call.I would like Acorn to replace the cross threaded gas valve with a new one so my family and I can feel confident that it isn’t likely to develop a leak sometime in the future.I also would like to reiterate that gas does not smell like rotten eggs, so if you suspect something may be gas - assume it is and call in an HVAC tech. I didn’t, and put my family at risk for nearly a week while I tried to figure out what the smell was.I sent this review to Acorn and got a call from the service manager who apologized and told me that the service tech who said the fitting had been cross threaded said that he didn’t mean it was cross threaded and shouldn’t have written that. I asked for a picture of the threads which the tech had taken at the time and they looked okay.I am not completely comfortable with the state of our furnace and will be closely monitoring it for leaks. I asked that they schedule a follow up check in about six months or whenever their quiet time is to be sure we haven’t developed a slow leak. I also suggested they do a comp service while they were here to compensate us for the hassle and risk they caused. No reply.In all conscience I can’t recommend Acorn.After posting this review I received a call from one of the owners. She had no issues with any of my comments and apologized, noting that the service people are run off their feet at the moment but that was no excuse for not responding to my last communication. She offered to send someone round to confirm their were no leaks and also agreed that in the circumstances my request for a follow up check and complimentary tune up during the Spring were completely reasonable. She immediately followed that up with an email confirmation. She is proud of the people they employ and wanted to make sure that I was a satisfied customer. I had initially given them 3 stars, it is a shame it took a dodgy review to get good service. I am not sure yet how I feel about using them again, but as far as this transaction is concerned I am satisfied with the final outcome.Ian Denison

The pilot light in our old furnace went out in the middle of the cold and we could not re-ignite it. A friend recommended we try Acorn. The technician was extremely efficient and experienced and explained at every step what he was doing. He eventually replaced the pilot light but when he noticed the pilot flame was still weak, he went through the assembly and eventually cleaned out this small tube which was plugged with debris. After he did that, the pilot light was noticeably stronger. The tech is Ke, he was extremely professional and excellent. Not only was he polite, but he took his shoes off before entering our house and also vacuumed up the dust in the furnace after he was finished. Very impressed. He did recommend our 20 year old furnace be replaced, but now with his repairs, we can do it when we are financially ready to so. Five stars for Ke and Acorn!

I made an appointment for a technician to come and look at my heat pumps because I was having trouble with them. The technician showed up and asked what the problems I was having with my system, I explained the problems and he told me what he thought he should do to find the problems. He told what he thought it could be and gave me options on how he wanted to proceed, also let me know the probable costs and came to an agreement. Thank god he did a thorough investigation before diving into what I thought was wrong because he figured out the problem and cost me half of what I thought the problem was. I would use Acorn again and if all their technicians are as good as the one I had there a very lucky company.John Newman

The team were on time, respected the home keeping everything clean and did a professional job on installing the ducted Daikin AC and the ductless mini split Emura. Update: had two service calls with excellent service from two reps, really appreciate the great serviceTwice in the last month we've had Acorn staff at our house to investigate perimeter drainage issues and furnace exhaust issues and we had great service and advice from the crew! Clear communication to setup appointments and great customer oriented service once they arrived.

We had a drain backed up in basement.. not a major flood fortunately but needed attention.. Mario came on time.. well prepared and fixed our problem. We also signed up for annual maintenance of our fireplace and we ended up not only saving over $100 on this bill but will also be a preferred customer with Acorn. Our house is over 60 years old and to have a company like Acorn ready to come to our rescue is a very good thing. Highly recommended.

I had an amazing experience with Acorn Service Group from start to finish. Nolan setup a quick on site quote for a new AC install with Shawn, who showed up on time, was very knowledgeable and got back to me several hours after the onsite visit with a competitive quote. He also held a very quick installation date for me while I was weighing my options, which he didn't have to do. I looked at other reviews and decided to go with Acorn Services Group and very glad I did. The techs showed up on time, were exceedingly polite and professional and completed the installation and went over the whole system with me before they left. Their electrical contractor was also very good and tackled a tough electrical installation after being up in a very hot attic for a good part of the day. After the installation I had several questions about their service plan, which Nolan answered and I decided to setup my annual service needs with them as well. I couldn't be more pleased with the service I received, and recommend this company with zero reservations.

Great service. Arrived on time. Nick was awesome. He was able to diagnose the source of the clogged drain and was able to clear it out. It was way deep and not an easy fix. He did not hesitate to go out and up on the roof in the rain to consider all possible options for clearing the drain. Job well done with a great service person.Acorn quoted the job beofre starting work. It was pricey so they discounted their service fee. Thank you Acorn.

I would definitely recommend Acorn for any repair or install services. The cheaper option (tank versus tankless) was best for us and they did not try to change our minds or up-sell. They arrived on time and did a great job installing our new hot water tank. The installer took his time, took pride in his work and explained all of the features of our new tank. Next time we need services, we will be calling Acorn.

Our drain in the garage was clogged and acron was a saviour. They gave us a date for the same week even though they were extremely busy during the heavy rains. Great Service at a great price. Working with Acorn we were able to swiftly and competitively offer a service that would work well within our budget so that we could remediate heating issues in our house during a cold spell! They had provided heaters as well as made quick work of the installation within days of setting up and confirming numbers. In addition, at least for what I am looking for when contacting a service organization is not just the face value of the service, but the add-on value that truly shows partnership. Acorn does this in a way that made us feel secure we were going to be taken care of by providing reasoning to furnace choices they install and even prescribing opt-outs to their own services that may not be immediately needed when working on a quote. This all came together in a great service offering and was reason for why we chose Acorn instead of other organizations we were considering when replacing our furnace!And of course...the service itself was done smoothly, but I emphasize this as a function of the task at hand, not the add-on value that comes with partnership.

Plumbing and HVAC-This is a very reliable, skilled and professional company. Jordan, who came out for both jobs, was really a delight to work with. Even the dispatcher and the manager who spoke with me on the phone to figure out how best to serve me were delightful. It is rare to fine such a great company to work with. We will definitely use Acorn again for any HVAC or plumbing issues going forward. I highly recommend them if you want your work done promptly, professionally and pleasantly! 100 percent!

We recently had Keltie in to replace a couple of plumbing fixtures and give our kitchen and bathroom some long-overdue attention. She was fabulous. Fastidiously clean, knowledgeable about our mid-70's house's quirks and a gem to have in our home. Totally pleased with the service and result. I recently moved into a new home and had a plumbing issue I needed help with. Acorn set up an appointment super quickly. Tiffany booked the appointment and was very pleasant she was so happy on the phone she brightened my day and even welcomed me into the neighborhood.The day of my appointment they called me an hour before the plumber arrived which I was very thankful for because I was nervous to take a shower in case they arrived while I was in there. Lol which is always my luck.The plumber showed up an hour later, just like they said, and I was extremely happy to see she was a female. Keltie was great to deal with, she was happy, friendly, knowledgeable and even told me it was okay to let my two dogs out of the bedroom as she is a dog person.
